“Occupational Therapy is more than a job. For many, it is a calling. We felt drawn to it.”
Amy Lamb, OTD, OTR/L AOTA President.
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew that my calling was to work with people, to help people, and to make a difference. I loved learning and being creative. And then I found a career that marries all of that. A dream come true.
I grew up and completed my school career in Johannesburg, after which I obtained my B.Occupational Therapy degree in 1991, from the University of the Orange Free State. After gaining experience in various fields of specialization, I fell in love with paediatrics. I did my post-grad qualification in Sensory Integration and obtained a post-grad Diploma in Remedial Education from the then known as Rand Afrikaans University.
Oh and in between that, I got married, had two boys, whom my husband and I have raised, and turned into two lovely young men.
I worked at Crossroads remedial school for more than 10 years before taking the leap into private practice. My practice has been operating from De La Salle Holy Cross College, in Victory Park for more than 10 years, helping many little children to shine and achieve their potential!
I provide occupational therapy assessments and treatment for children of various ages, who present with the following:
- Developmental Delays
- Learning difficulties and school related problems
- Sensory Integration and related issues
I am constantly expanding my knowledge and value the importance of furthering my expertise in a variety of areas, in an ever-changing world.
Occupational Therapy is my life and my calling!
